About Me
I grew up locally, in Lafayette.
I have been in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District for 15 years, Twin Creeks was my very first school!! I taught science and PE before I went to Alamo Elementary and later Walt Disney Elementary. I’ve taught Kindergarten, 3rd, and 4th grades, as well as 1st-5th in the Science Lab. Third grade is definitely my favorite! There are so many interesting things to learn, and along the way they will become stronger readers, writers, and mathematicians.
My husband and I have two children who have grown up in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. My son Jack is a junior at SDSU, and my daughter Emmy is a sophomore at Cal Poly SLO.
Some of my favorite things are hiking, jogging, being outside, listening to music, reading, teaching, anything Disney and spending time with my family.
I can’t wait to get to know your child, and am excited for them to get to know me too. We are going to have a great year together!!

Important Dates

August 10 - First Day of School (minimum day)
August 11 - Back to School Night at 5:30 p.m.
Schedule
School starts at 8 am and will end at 2:30 each day. On Wednesday, there will be early dismissal at 12:50. A class schedule has many moving parts with recess/lunch, prep classes and academic blocks. It is like a jigsaw puzzle where you need to find the right spot for every piece. The schedule I have attached is tentative, it is definitely not set in stone. I just wanted you to get an idea of what the week might look like and how all areas are accounted for.

Curriculum Snapshots
August, 2020
Reading Workshop: We will begin the year "building a reading life" for ourselves. The "Building a Reading Life" unit is all about how we can set ourselves up for success with reading and goal setting. It isn't a lengthy unit, but it sets the tone for the whole year.

Writing Workshop: Our year begins with writing personal narratives and growing into the identity of being a writer. Students will learn to generate ideas and develop these moments with a storyteller's voice.

Math: Our year will begin with a review of second grade skills and then move into Eureka Math, Module 1. The first module deals with properties of multiplication and division and solving problems with units of 2–5 and 10.

Social Studies: Our ongoing curriculum in third grade is studying the San Ramon Valley and the theme of community.

Science: Our first unit will be Physical Science/Invisible Forces.

Poetry: Once a week we will study a new poem. Students will then create their own and illustrate it.
